Microsoft has promised to update the Update Catalog site to support other browsers "later this summer."Īlongside the convenience rollup for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, Microsoft has announced that it's going to be releasing a monthly package with all of that month’s non-security updates in one download. Running Internet Explorer with ActiveX controls enabled is currently the only way to download the package. Unfortunately, the convenience rollup is only available through the Microsoft Update Catalog, a legacy website that doesn’t support non-Internet Explorer browsers. Since this update roll-up includes almost all of the updates Microsoft has released since Service Pack 1 was released, it should simplify new Windows 7 installs. Microsoft has released an update rollup for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 that it's calling a "convenience rollup." Service Pack 1 was released way back in February of 2011, which means we've seen more than five years of patch Tuesdays come and go since its release.
